Pectin handling process
Pectin is a very important additive and can be used in all aspects of life, such as: yogurt, jelly, ice cream, health products, etc., can also be used in medicine such as capsules, toothpaste and bath products. In terms of food, the biggest feature of pectin is that it is delicious and does not destroy the original taste of food, so it is widely popular as a food additive.
Pectin can be extracted from apples, sugar beets and other crops. But most pectin comes from citrus peels. The peel from which pectin is extracted is purchased from a citrus processor. These are mainly produced in Argentina, Mexico, but also Brazil, Peru, Spain, etc. After juicing, the processors wash the peels to remove oil and dissolved sugar. After drying slightly, these are packaged and sent to the pectin production line.
Pectin is extracted from washed and dried orange peels, which are first dissolved by the precipitated acid. The used peel is then removed and the remaining solution is treated with alcohol, which will precipitate the pectin. After precipitation, pectin is dried and finally sold in powder form.
The screw press dehydrator can be used to dehydrate the waste residue after acid treatment, and can also be used to pre-dehydrate the finished product before drying, whether it is used in that piece, it has increased the production efficiency of the product, and is the first choice for many pectin manufacturers.
